Support the Grassroots Movement for More Health Care Choices
The grassroots movement for increasing health in the US is gaining momentum. It consists of people working on many levels of society to bring about more options in health care and greater awareness of healthy living. For a major change to occur in this country, it will take the interest and participation of thousands of people. Anyone can participate and it doesn't require a financial contribution! If you are interested, consider any of the following ideas:
-
Share our books with your friends, family, coworkers, and health care practitioners.
-
Mention what you have learned about the 3LS Wellness Program and holistic health on call-in radio shows, Internet chat rooms, blogs, and other media to help get the word out.
-
Talk to your physician repeatedly about needing alternatives to drugs and surgery.
-
Spend your 'voting' dollars on other healing modalities and holistic physicians/practitioners.
-
Communicate with your insurance companies about lack of coverage for other healing methods ones that work.
-
Contact your politicians and share your experience of the ineffectiveness of the entire health care system in this country.
-
Write letters to the editors of your local newspapers about your experience of how the allopathic monopoly did not help you and how simple alternatives did.
-
Teach the members of your support group about the 3LS Wellness Program.
-
Write your local hospital administrators and request other healing modalities be made available to patients.
-
Shop at health food stores and high quality grocers.
-
Let your school administrators know your concern about the lack of nutritional quality in our children's school lunches.
-
Communicate with your grocery store about the unavailability of organic and whole foods. Buy organic and whole foods when the grocers do carry them. Send in customer comment cards asking for a whole foods section.
-
Ask for whole foods meals in restaurants and restaurant chains.
-
Form and support food co-ops and farmers, markets in your community.
-
Support political efforts to safeguard our rights to purchase nutritional supplements.
-
Sponsor political efforts to safeguard the rights of practitioners using other healing methods.
-
There are many other things you could do, based on your positive experiences changing your life for the better with the lessons learned from daily implementation of the 3LS Wellness Program.
-
Health care practitioners can also find ways to help such as through giving community service talks about the 3LS. They can also offer special programs for helping people who have no health insurance.
A vision of a healthier world.
Here are some suggestions for making the aspects of the 3LS Wellness Program more accessible to all people:
Whole Foods Diet ideas
-
Start a restaurant that serves only foods allowed on the Perfect Whole Foods Diet, and later, create a chain of restaurants.
-
If you are a restaurant owner, offer a special line of 100% whole foods meals in your restaurant.
-
Create a line of foods and food products compatible with the Perfect Whole Foods Diet. They could be sold through all grocery stores and especially health food stores. Perhaps one line of products could be sold through venues like Tupperware parties, but in addition to just selling products, these parties would also offer lessons in cooking skills and nutrition education.
-
Grocery stores could have a whole foods aisle.
-
A labeling system could be created and implemented whereby food products that are 100% whole foods (as on the perfect whole foods diet) have a special label or insignia (like how kosher foods are labeled).
-
If you are a food manufacturer, be sure to list all ingredients clearly on the labels, and which ones are whole foods (such as if ingredients are unpeeled). On the front, let us know that the package contains all whole foods if it does. Also, disclose all ingredients, as descriptions like "natural flavors" means PWFD followers cannot be clear what is in your product. Consider starting a whole foods line of products.
-
Start a line of whole foods snack bars, vending machines that sell purely whole foods, or a line of juice blends with no fruit.
Stress Relief and Relaxation ideas
-
If you run a company, provide a quiet room for R & R and Skilled Relaxation for your employees to have a relaxing place to restore themselves during their work breaks.
-
When she has the opportunity, Jan would like to start a prototype of a self-help stress relief group in Boulder. To do so she needs someone willing to donate a location to be used on a weekly basis and help with publicity. If it works well, such groups could be implemented throughout the country under the umbrella of a non-profit organization.
Exercise ideas
-
If you run a company, before work, at lunchtime, and after work, bring in someone to lead exercise classes such as yoga or t'ai chi.
-
Provide space or organization for volleyball games, softball leagues, etc.
Helping the Uninsured
-
Start and maintain an active, effective Yahoo Group or website(s) for people without health insurance (or who have it but still cannot afford health care) can exchange ideas for getting what they need, and where national companies or health care providers offering real help to the uninsured can make their offer of help known. A few groups have been started but they are not very active.
-
Jan has a list of practical ideas for the uninsured to help themselves on her website at http://lifespringarts.com/selfhelp_no_health_insurance.shtml.
Sunrise Health Coach Publications also needs support
-
Volunteers could assist with promotional events, office tasks, running errands, and bookkeeping.
-
A new computer and a laptop with powerpoint for giving presentations about health would be useful.
